RSG, SPDC To Train 20 In Dubai
The Rivers State Government says, it is collaborating with the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) for the training of 20 Rivers State indigenes in Dubai on customer service management, while 30 others are undergoing capacity training in the maritime industry in Amet University, India.
Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment, Dr. Ipalibo Harry disclosed this Monday in Port Harcourt while declaring open a 10-day vocational and entrepreneurship skills on the establishment of small and medium scale Business.
Harry also said that, apart from other trainings on Fibre Glass Boat building, the Ministry is collaborating with Nigerian Employers Consultative Assembly (NECA) for the Graduate Work Placement Scheme.
He said that the efforts was in line with Governor Amaechi’s vision of reducing unemployment in the state and urged the participants to seize the opportunity to improve their capacity.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Comfort Iragunima, said that the workshop was meant to provide improved access to entrepreneurship development, noting that the initiative will go a long way in strengthening the self employment acumen in the unemployed by exposing them to some practical skills that would enhance their chances of creating jobs and wealth for themselves.
She said that the training will expose them to diverse marketable skills and also teach them how to develop their own business concepts and ideas and to find access to funding of SMES.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Napoleon Amachree described the training as a welcome development and urged the participants to seize the opportunity to develop themselves.
The State Directorate of Employment (NDE) Chief Amachree, said that access to funding may be provided to them, if their level of seriousness is satisfactory.
