Lagos: 100 Cybercafes To Register NECO Candidates
The National Examinations Council (NECO) said that more than 100 cyber cafés in Lagos State has indicated interest to register candidates for this year’s Nov/Dec. 2011 examination for private candidates.
The NECO Lagos Zonal Officer, Mr. Afolabi Abimbola, who disclosed this to newsmen on Monday, in Lagos, said that previously, candidates registered for the examination at a cyber café of their choice but that had changed because of the introduction of biometric machines.
“The registration must be done at cyber cafés duly accredited by the council. The cyber café must have good facilities with efficient operators. The biometric data of the candidates are of utmost importance”.
“We have to use only cyber cafés with good facilities that will also ensure an efficient capture of the fingerprint and data of every candidate.”
“Candidates are expected to download one clear copy of the attestation card from the cyber café where he or she registered,” Abimbola said.
He advised candidates for the NECO-organised Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) to ensure that they uploaded their data correctly, adding that the council would not be held liable for registration errors.
Abimbola said that the attestation/photo card that would be signed and stamped by a credible referee must be presented before writing each paper, adding that candidates should log onto the council’s website for details..
He also said that blind candidates would register like any other candidate.
He advised them to notify the state officer where they intend to write the examination, not later than three weeks to the commencement of the examination.
It will be recalled that the sale of the Nov/Dec SSCE NECO forms commenced on August 1 in all zonal /state offices, banks and NIPOST offices nationwide at the rate of N7,350 only.
