Students Demand ICT Inclusion In School Curriculum
The Rivers State Govern
ment has been told to include information and communication Technology (ICT) in the curriculum of all schools in the state.
A secondary school student, Dundyson Amadi, said that such development would help to streamline challenges surrendering ICT appreciation.
The student who spoke with The Tide Wednesday in Port Harcourt, said that ICT should be given full attention just like mathematic and other key subjects.
He admitted the presence of ICT in some schools, but noted that it is still at an inpart stage.
Amadi, noted that if ICT would be handled with a level of seriousness as directed by the state government, Rivers Students would not find it difficult to sit for ICT related examinations.
Others like Miss Belief Rawlings, who refused to name her school, said those of them in Private schools one yet to benefit from the system (ICT).
She said it would be proper for the state government to monitor the activities of some private schools in the state as to enable them see real situation of things.
Rawlings revealed that most private schools in the state operate almost on a different seale as regards education development.
According to her, in the next decade, those without proper knowledge of ICT may not find it easy to relate with others due to their handicap in the sector.
She however called on the Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Engr. Goodliffe Nmekini to organize an ICT competition for all secondary schools in the state as to enable them ascertain the level of ICT development in the state.
