The Federal Government
has been advised to include issues on Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunications development in its proposed National Dialogue.
Some respondents who spoke with our reporter in Port Harcourt Wednesday, said the Federal Government should adjust its timetable and ensure that issues bordering on IT and telecommunications development are included, in the National dialogue.
One Evans Chinda Ogbuji, said that since the economy was at the verge of collapsing, it is the only balm now that can heal the system.
Ogbuji noted that the telecommunication development of the country, if revived, would address many issues, including unemployment.
According to him, the national discourse should not centre on political issues, but should cut across several issues that could improve the economic system.
Another respondent, Paul Igwe Nwoha, said the federal Government and the organizers of the National Dialogue ought to remove political issues from the events and concentrate on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development.
He argued that good information system was another way of measuring a country’s level of development.
Nwoha, stressed that unless Nigeria approached IT development with high speed, it may not achieve its Vision 202020.
Hope Amadi, Joy Chima, and others, called on the supervising Minister of Science and technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson, to get ready and prepare her proposals on IT & ICT development.
They said that Nigerians would not forgive her if IT&ICT did not get the required attention during the National dialogue.
According to them, the country must join the rest of the world and develop ICT, adding that it was the hub of every economy.
