Traditional Ruler Lists Achievements
A first class traditional ruler in Rivers State, Eze Felix E. Otuwarikpo, Eze Igbu Upata 111, has listed restoration of peace and resolution of communal crisis as part of his achievements in about five years he has been on throne.
Eze Otuwarikpo, who stated this in his address at the commissioning of Upata Kingdom Central Palace at Edeoha in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State, noted that when he ascended the throne, he championed the resolution of protracted internal crisis arising from land dispute at Ula Upata .
According to him, the resolution of the Ula Upata dispute facilitated the return of the inhabitants after four years of displacement.
He explained that the barrage of Chieftaincy disputes he inherited across the Upata Kingdom had all been resolved, saying that there was no longer any chieftaincy dispute in his kingdom.
In the same vein, he said, amnesty was granted cultists and militants in his council’s pursuit of peace, adding that the building of a central palace where administrative and quasi-traditional activities would be carried out had been actualised.
He pointed out that his administration had attracted a lot of investments in the kingdom, he thanked the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for providing the needed leadership at this time of their history.
Also speaking, Sir Samuel J. Egbe described the commissioning of the palatial edifice thus: “What you are about to witness here is one of the countless enviable credentials of a visionary leader, Eze Felix Enene Otuwarikpo.”
He described the commissioning as a watershed in the history of Upata kingdom in particular and the Ekpe Ethnic Nation in general.
Sir Egbe noted that Governor Wike’s quest for excellence in leadership was the driving force behind the modest achievements in Upata kingdom.
Dignitaries at the occasion included: The Deputy Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ogelenye Ehie; the Chairman, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Benjamin I. Eke; and His Majesty, Eze Sir Kelvin N. Anugwo, Eze Ekpeye Logbo III.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
