Rivers NURTW Begins Operation Show Your Voter’s Card
Few days to the end of the voters registration exercise nationwide, the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Rivers State has directed its officers and members in the state to go out and register en-masse in the on-going registration exercise.
In a statement in Port Harcourt, the state Secretary of NURTW, Sir Chuks Boms JP, said the union has commenced immediate physical identification exercise on what it called “Operation Show Your Voters Card” on all her officers and members.
Sir Boms, therefore, called on all NURTW members to take advantage of the extension of the registration exercise to register now to avoid sanction.
The state NURTW secretary explained that the move will encourage transport workers to be part of the electoral process.
He said that the era in which NURTW workers are left out in the democratic process is gone, adding that every citizen including the transport workers have crucial role to play in the growth of democracy and national development.
