FAAN Reassures On Airports’ Certification
The Director, Airport Operations of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, has reassured that the agency will improve on its success on Lagos and Abuja airports certification.
He said that the gains made so far would not be allowed to go down to avoid retrogression.
Yadudu, who gave the assurance while speaking to aviation correspondents at Port Harcourt International Airport, recently, disclosed that FAAN has internal audit team working in Abuja and Lagos airports to sustain their achievements.
He said the process of certification of airports was already ongoing at the Port Harcourt, Kano,Kaduna and Enugu airports, adding that five other airports would follow soon.
According to him,the Federal Government has put in several efforts at improving the airports and that FAAN has implemented the improvement procedure effectively.
“ We undertook and concluded successfully the certification of both Abuja and Lagos international airports. Either of these is enough to win you an award.
“Experts from ACI come for periodic audit and inspection. They see these things, they assess what we are doing in terms of training, processes and procedures and documentation.
“ They are able to confirm our progress based on their findings. We have professionals who are committed and experienced in airport safety and operations. They work everyday and we are working with them as I speak , to develop Port Harcourt, Kano,Kaduna and Enugu airports. They train and work on the airfield.
“We are at tune with the industry’s best practice, while ensuing that what we achieve in terms of infrastructure facilities and personnel, we sustain so as not to go down or retrogress ,but constantly improve on what we have achieved already”, he said.
