ager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of The Tide Newspaper, Mr. Valentine Ugboma, has called on journalists to adjust so as to fit into the present era of digital reporting.
He made the call recently in a meeting with the editorial department of the corporation.
Ugboma, pointed out that newsmen ought to be Information and Communications Technology (ICT) compliant so as to be relevant in modern-day journalism.
According to him, the era of pen and paper reporting should be discouraged in journalism throughout the world.
He regretted that there was inadequate fund to enable the management provide ICT tools for all reporters in the corporation, but advised those with personal ICT tools to make effective use of them.
As a way out, he said management was planning to revive the internet system in the corporation inorder to fast-track production.
He maintained that digital system has a way of encouraging growth in journalism due to its nature.
Ugboma, who also doubles as the Business Development Director hinted of plans of retraining reporters in the corporation not only for better productivity but also to allow them compete favoruably with their counterparts internationally.
In his response, the Group News Editor, Mr Nelson Chukwudi, who made a case for digital reporting, said that it speeds up production.
He explained that when a report is sent via e-mail or other digital means, editing becomes easier.
Chukwudi, also pleaded with reporters to fashion out ways that could enable them have digital devices, saying that analogue reporting was no longer in practice.
Earlier, reporters in the corporation had lauded the AGM over his plans to revive the internet system, and called on him to give give their welfare priority.
