NBS Data Collection: Monarch Tasks Community Leaders On Compliance
As the National Bureau
of Statistics (NBS), begins the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey Five (MICS -5) 2016, Community leaders in the state have been tasked on the need to comply with the process.
The traditional ruler of Rumuokwurusi community, Eze Morgan .N. Amadi, gave the charge while briefing newsmen at his palace in Port Harcourt, Wednesday.
He said NBS which was working in collaboration with the United Nation’s International Children Education Fund (UNICEP)was apt in its decision to carry out a data survey.
Amadi noted that such moves should be supported by community leaders in order to encourage the programmes sponsors.
According to him, projects like data collection were serious business that ought to be pursued with vigour.
The Tide learnt that the aim of the exercise was to assess the situation of children, women, Households, in the areas of Health, Education and Child Protection, among others.
It was further learnt that the data collected would also be in monitoring some of the sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the state.
The royal father, called on the newly inaugurated caretake committee chairman of the local government councils to provide a safe environment for the field officers who will execute the project.
In his view, the exercise was inline with best international practice as it concerns data collection, thus the need to support the project.
Amadi who is also known as Eze Oha Okwurusi also appealed to the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to ensure that no local Government area in the state was leftout in the exercise.
The programme which commenced September 21, is billed to end on December 22, 2016.
