211 Students Bag ALSCON’s Scholarship In A’Ibom
Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom, undergraduates have benefited from its scholarship programme since 2009, according to the Management of Aluminum Smelter
The Executive Director in the company, Mr Oleg Levi, who made the disclosure in an interview in Ikot Abasi said each beneficiary received N45,000. He said that the implementation of the scheme over the years had demonstrated the company’s commitment to youth’s development and empowerment in the host communities.
“I believe that scholarship is of great importance to us because it is a long term investment in the students,’’ he said.
The executive director emphasised the company’s commitment to its social responsibility to host communities exemplified through its scholarship programme.
He said that the company was committed to the scholarship programme because it was in tandem with Akwa Ibom and neighbouring states’ desire to develop their human capital to improve the future of the states.
Levi said 80 per cent of ALSCON’s employees were from Akwa Ibom and its environs, stressing that it would continue to invest in the training of people in the area.
“We need young, active, creative and educated specialists: We understand our need for educated employees and we support the education sector. “We will continue to provide assistance to schools, sustain and strengthen the scholarship programme,’’ he said.
