Fubara Eulogises Rodaford LongJohn’s Audacity, Tenacity At Funeral
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has described Late Hon. Rodaford LongJohn as a man who obviously was a man of integrity as he is widely known to always stand by his words.
The governor gave this remark during the funeral service of late Amaopusenibo Rodaford LongJohn which took place at St. Stephen’s Cathederal of Grand Bonny Kingdom.
According to the governor, who was represented by the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers State Chapter, Amb. Desmond Akawor, the story of the NEW Rivers Vision would be incomplete if the name of Hon. LongJohn was not mentioned.
“He is a man who has supported our journey for a NEW Rivers Vision and the consolidation of same vision from the the birth of the vision”
According to him, “In Amaopusenibo Rodaford LongJohn, we saw a man who stands by his words and decision. Although late Hon. Rodaford LongJohn was known to be quiet in his behaviour, however, he is equally known to be firm in his actions.
“We stand united in our grief but also in our appreciation for a leader whose firm actions, though sometimes challenging, but ultimately aimed for the betterment of all notwithstanding his calm disposition”.
Speaking to the leaders of Bonny Local Government Area, the governor advised that the demise of the deceased should serve as a binding force in the area, noting that the loss of their political leader is undoubtedly a moment of mourning, and it should also be a time for reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to the principles and values that bind them together.
He urged them to honour the memory of the departed leader by working together towards a more inclusive, just, and peaceful future.
The governor urged family members, friends and sympathisers not to question the decision of God Almighty, citing that God is not subject to what we feel is fair or what we think.
Family, friends and sympathisers were urged to take solace in the enduring legacies built by the deceased.
LongJohn was a former chairman of Bonny Local Government Area and immediate past commissioner for local government affairs and leader of PDP in Bonny Local Government Area.
