CP Vows To Fight Against Cyber Crime
The Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr Emeka Polycarp Nwoni, has said his fight against crime will be extended to the cyber world.
Nwoyi, who said this at a press conference organised by the Rivers Zero Crime Team in Port Harcourt recently, noted that anything in resemblance of crime, must be touched by his team in the state.
The Police Commissioner, who was responding to question whether he has plans to fight cyber criminals, said since crime is crime, everything under such purview must be addressed.
He said time has come when people should be weary of crime commission given the level of fight against it, saying that people should instead use the positive side of the internet which is globally accepted.
By so doing, he said, no Government or agency will go after anyone doing a genuine business.
“Crime is crime. We will fight cyber criminals. All we want is that the state and its environs must be free of crime”, he said.
The Tide’s ICT Desk learnt that cyber crime is gradually taking center stage in crime record, due to the involvement of young persons in the “business”.
Earlier, he called on the people to always be supportive of the fight against crime, whether internet or not, by reporting any suspicious movement to the police and assured of strict cover for such persons.
