Fubara, Global Figure, Deserves Respect -NADECO USA …Carpets Dokubo Over Comments
The National Democratic Coalition(NADECO), United States of America Chapter, has described the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara as a global figure, who deserves the respect and support of the people.
NADECO USA gave this indication on the heels of comments credited to the former leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force(NDPVF), Alhaji Asari Dokubo against the Governor.
In this vein, it took the former Niger Delta activist to the cleaners for his vituperations.
Making its position known in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Dr Lloyd Ukwu, the body declared its total and unalloyed support to the Fubara administration, describing the Governor as a global figure who deserves to be respected and protected.
NADECO USA said it is ready and prepared to support and partner the Fubara administration in the onerous task of transforming the State and improving the welfare and wellbeing of the people, as well as repositioning the State for greatness and unprecedented prosperity.
While applauding Governor Fubara for his gentle and easy going disposition, the coalition said nobody should take these endearing attributes of the Governor for granted.
According to the group, “Rivers State is a very important player in the Niger Delta, Nigeria and the global arena because of oil and gas. So, such a State and its Governor must be respected and protected globally. Governor Fubara is a global figure. As such, he deserves to be respected and protected”.
The coalition further clarified that the so-called pipeline proposal to Europe through Morocco is achievable as a result of the abundant oil and gas deposits from the Niger Delta region.
The body, therefore, posited that it is not treating with kid’s gloves Dokubo’s comments on Governor Fubara, and cautioned the former Niger Delta militant to retrace his steps.
While accusing the Federal Government of tacitly backing Dokubo on this “unfortunate unfolding machination”, NADECO USA appealed to the youths and Rivers people to rally round Governor Fubara in solidarity, saying,”There is an African proverb that says, “When you see a child challenging the King, know that the kingmakers are behind him”.
The body condemned in strong terms a situation where non-state actors in Nigeria now challenge constituted authorities, describing the trend as an ominous ill-wind.
“Asari Dokubo had the audacity to call out and take on a whole sitting Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara by showering him with all manner of insults. Dokubo by openly challenging the sitting Governor of the State has vicariously denigrated the institution of the Office of the Governor and by extension, the good people of Rivers State”, it said.
The coalition recalled that not too long ago, Dokubo addressed the press in Aso Rock with the country’s Coat of Arms hanging behind him, a situation it said is very disturbing.
It, therefore, advised Governor Fubara to “fasten his belt in readiness for the unprecedented mayhem that Dokubo is about to unleash”.
It noted further that “Mr Fubara is the Chief Security Officer of Rivers State and he must protect and defend the people of the State because no one is above the law and certainly not Dokubo”.
The coalition’s Executive Director, Dr Lloyd Ukwu, who hails from Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, currently resides in Washington DC, United States of America.
