Ahoada Cult Clash: Uzugbani Ekpeye Condemns Killing …Urges Security Agencies To Beef Up Security
The people of Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality under the aegis of the apex socio-cultural organisation in Ekpeye land, Uzugbani Ekpeye, have condemned in its entirety, the killing in Ekpeye land resulting from a suspected cult clash of two opposing groups.
Recall that there was a case of supremacy battle involving two rival cult groups, last Saturday, at the Abuja Housing Estate in Ahoada Town, headquarters of Ahoada East Local Government Area, resulting in the death of some persons.
Reacting to this development, the President General of Uzugbani Ekpeye, the Ekpeye People’s General Assembly, Dr. Ukechukwu Nyemenim, described the incident as very unfortunate, barbaric and uncalled for, especially at a time Ekpeye people were going through turbulent times occasioned by the flood disaster that had ravaged over 95percent population of Ekpeye.
He wondered why the insignificant few Ekpeye youths chose to chase shadows rather than things that should better their lives at this critical period of seeming economic hardship.
Nyemenim noted with sadness that while Ekpeye sons and daughters were making frantic efforts to galvanise support for Ekpeye flood victims, unguarded few individuals decided to cause disaffection in the system that was already yielding results through the traditional governance of Eze Ekpeye Logbo 111, Eze Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo.
The National Executive Council of Uzugbani Ekpeye called on the security agencies to carry out an in-depth investigation and bring perpetrators to book while also tightening all loopholes to guard against reprisal attack or reoccurrence of such a dastardly act, especially as Christmas, New Year celebrations and the 2023 general election approach.
“Uzugbani Ekpeye is, therefore, calling for calm as everything is being done to safeguard Ekpeye Land.
“We are also calling for partnership with the two local government chairmen of Ahoada East and West, Barrister Ben Eke, and Hon Hope Ikiriko, respectively, as well as the Eze Ekpeye Logbo-In-Council to conclude security arrangements to ensure that inhabitants of Ekpeye land are safe and more secured”.
The Uzugbani Ekpeye warned trouble makers to steer clear of Ekpeye land or face dare consequences of the wrath of Ekpeye people as Ekpeye must move forward.
