Wike Reviews Appointment Of Special Assistants To 50,000 …Approves N1bn To Support Flood Victims In Rivers
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has reviewed the appointment of Special Assistants on Political Units from 28,000 to 50,000.
A statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Governor of Rivers State, Kelvin Ebiri, yesterday, said, “The appointments take immediate effect”.
On Wednesday, the Rivers State governor had appointed 28, 000 Special Assistants for political units in the state.
Earlier, the governor had appointed 319 Ward Liaison Officers and 40 Local Government Area Liaison Officers.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has approved the sum of N1billion for emergency relief measures to support flood victims in Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government areas of the state.
The governor, who empathised with the flood victims, has also set up a task force to coordinate the distribution of relief materials to affected communities in the state.
Wike, said the N1billion approved by the Rivers State Government was to enable vulnerable families, particularly in Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGAs, which were the most impacted areas in the state, to cope with the devastating flood water which has inundated homes, farmlands and forced residents of affected communities to relocate to safer places.
The governor said the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau (SSB) in the Office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. George Nwaeke, would serve as the chairman of the task force, while, Mrs. Inime I. Aguma, was the secretary.
Other members of the task force are, the Chairman of Ahoada West LGA, Hon. Hope Ikiriko; Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, Hon. Vincent Job; Hon. Chukwuemeka Onowu; and the Director of Administration in the Ministry of Special Duties.
A statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Governor of Rivers State, Kelvin Ebiri, directed all members of the task force to a meeting with the Rivers State governor at the Government House, Port Harcourt, yesterday, at 10am.
