Community Pharmacists Recount Role In Universal Health Coverage
Community Pharmacists in Akwa Ibom State have said that they are the most accessible health professionals to the public and so play a pivotal role in universal health coverage towards the passion they have for their profession
The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Pharm. Abasiama Uwatt, made this known in Uyo at the Ibom ACPN Day 2022
With the theme: The Role of Community Pharmacists in Universal Health Coverage, the chairman said, “There is a need for these roles to be defined and aligned with the emerging health needs of the communities served by these pharmacists. Hence the theme for this year’s event is timely and significant towards the practice of their profession
According to her,” community pharmacy is evolving and we cannot afford to be left behind. It is important to acknowledge the effort of our national body in continually preparing us for these evolving roles through programmes such as master learning series and recently the recognition of pharmacies as COVID-19 vaccination centers”
The chairman planning committee, Pharm. Ita Udom, said “As we all know, community pharmacists are health professionals most accessible to the public and are the cornerstone of primary healthcare. The theme as well as the proceedings of this event has been tactically structured to empower, equip and position us for quality service delivery particularly in the area of primary healthcare.”
He commended the chairman, Pharm.Abasiama Uwatt, for working hard tirelessly to make sure the event was successful and to upgrade our professional skill while commending members for their massive turnout during the Ibom ACPN Day 2022, enjoining them to keep it up for others to emulate.
Earlier, the chairman pharmaceutics society of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom branch, Dr.Akwaowo Akpabio, commended Akwa Ibom State Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria for floating out conference that is timely for the benefit of their members especially to upgrade their professional skill.
Despite that, the pharmaceutics society of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom branch said it would kick against sub-standard drugs in the state as professionals while members cannot encourage such development thst runs against the integrity of the ethics and practice of the profession.
