Ikwerre Man’ll Soon Be President, Cleric Predicts
The District Superintendent of Ikwerre Central Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Mike Japheth has prophesied that an Ikwerre man would soon occupy Presidential Villa, Aso Rock as Nigeria’s president.
Japheth, who made the remark at the 22nd edition of the Ikwerre National Day of Thanksgiving at the Ecumenical Centre, Port Harcourt on Boxing Day, described the Ikwerre nation as the most hospitable in the world.
The seasoned guest preacher of international repute, praised God for strategically and beautifully placing the Ikwerre people where they are today, and noted that God loved the ethnic nationality.
He prayed God to continue to sustain and bless Ikwerre people in all walks of life for setting out a day to praise and honour Him.
The preacher also prayed God to give the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike the wisdom to sustain his developmental strides.
In his address, the President General, Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide, Prof Emenike Wami, expressed happiness that Ikwerre people were excelling in different fields of human endeavour.
He explained that the Ikwerre nation’s annual thanksgiving on December 26, every year was conceived by the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Wami remarked that Ikwerre people had every reason to thank God for the innumerable blessings He had showered on them.
The erudite professor noted that the annual thanksgiving was intended to foster unity of all Ikwerre people; boost brotherhood, social and cultural understanding of Ikwerre people; promote education activities in Ikwerre; and preserve and enhance Ikwerre cultural heritage, among others.
“We have celebrated and soaring politicians in the state and federal levels, successful captains of industry, astute and seasoned managers, administrators, firebrand and brilliant professors…,” Wami stated.
He hailed the achievements of Ikwerre people in different areas of life, and encouraged them to strive higher.
Wami noted that since Year 2000 when the maiden edition of the thanksgiving was held, the group had continued observe the event with commitment and dedication to the Almighty God.
He described the Ogbakor Ikwerre as the ethnic nationality’s apex organisation, and pointed out that it was founded in 1963 amidst obstacles, discouragement and trials.
Wami also expressed happiness that the body has continued to achieve its goals.
The dignitaries who attended the occasion were Senator Andrew Uchendu, Moughzu Tiv from Benue State and others.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
