Blend Careers With Relevant Skills, Ariolu Urges Professionals
The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, Barrister George Ariolu has charged professionals to acquire relevant skills in line with their career paths in order to add value to themselves and the society.
He said it was high time professionals sat up and realised their respective roles and responsibilities in ensuring that humanity as well as the society benefit immensely.
The chairman gave this advise while declaring open a three-day workshop organised by lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, in collaboration with National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to train doctors, lawyers and engineers on ICT and other relevant skills.
Speaking further, Ariolu said the importance of ICT in the daily activities of mankind, especially professionals, cannot be overemphasised.
He added that the training was in line with his administration’s focal thrust on human capacity development.
Ariolu, who reassured of his advocacy in competence and commitment, said he was also an advocate of impacting on humanity through selfless service.
While insisting that governance was all about dividends of democracy, he recalled that the fundamental principles of governance was the welfare and protection of citizens, adding that it was the civic responsibility of citizens to vote and be voted for.
However, he has urged public officers to emulate Chinda in ensuring that the people were empowered by putting in place quality programmes and policies that would add value to the society.
Ariolu while commending the lawmaker for his strides towards empowering his people, described the training as important and impactful as it would help educate and enlighten professionals as well as aid them to effectively discharge their duties.
Earlier, the lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, who was represented by his assistant, Sir Chika Chinda, advised participants to take the training seriously, as he noted that the world has gone digital hence the need for the training.
He added that participants at the end of the training would be able to carry out their jobs effectively through the help of the ICT knowledge that would be acquired in the course of the training.
