Monarch Urges Cultural Revival
The Paramount Ruler of Alakahia Akpor in Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Daniel Dodo, has encouraged the public to show commitment in reviving the diverse cultural heritage of the nation.
The Paramount ruler who stated this at the Ikwerre Festival of Art and Culture tagged, Ikwe-Fest 2020 organised by the Ikwerre Meka Group in Port Harcourt, said they should strive to move the Ikwerre culture to enviable heights.
He called on the people of Ikwerre to put God first, adding that nothing can be achieved without God.
Eze Daniel Dodo also called on the indigenous people of Ikwerre to live a life of honesty and sincerity, adding that they should live life worthy of emulation by other communities.
He appreciated Ikwerre Meka Group for organising such laudable event and having the zeal to promote the unique culture of the Ikwerre people.
In his remarks, the former Editor of The Sun Newspaper, Chief Wofuru Ogazile Okparaolu appealed for unity among the people of Ikwerre.
He also called on the leaders of Ikwerre ethnic nationality to look beyond sentiments and selfish gains to propagate the interest of the people.
“The problem our people have is that they don’t support their own things. For us to grow beyond this level we must change our attitude and learn to promote things that will uplift us”, he said.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ikwerre Meka Group, Hillary Oparaodu said the festival was part of the activities of the Group t6 promote the unique socio-cultural heritage of the lkwerre people under God.
According to him, the aim is to reunite and drive the interest of the culture, language and values among the younger generation for ethnic- cultural sustainability and advancement.
