Industrialist Donates N25m Equipment, Cash To CRSG

An industrialist, Asuquo Ekpenyong, has donated N10million cash and medical equipment worth over N15million to the Cross River State COVID-19 Taskforce team.
The Chairman of Davandy Group, who is also the Chairman of Asuquo Ekpenyong Foundation, made the donation to Governor Ben Ayade at the Governor’s Lodge in Calabar.
While making the donation, Ekpenyong said, “On behalf of the Davandy Group, we have paid serious attention to the COVID-19 pandemic. We watched it start out as an outbreak in Wuhan in the Hubei Province of China and have monitored its spread as it turned into an epidemic and then a global pandemic.
“Two weeks ago after the confirmed number of cases in Nigeria rose to eight, we took it upon ourselves to procure 75,000 masks from abroad as well as 5,000 hand sanitisers from Lagos. However, due to the shutdown of the nation’s borders, we have found it challenging to receive the medical kits from abroad.”
He said, while feeling the pains the people of Cross River State were going through at this trying time, the need to ensure a secure and peaceful living became a priority which the governor was championing.
In his response, Governor Ayade said the donation was the largest as an indigenous support to the COVID-19 Taskforce since its inauguration, adding that he had been able to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic to Cross River State through lockdown of borders.
