Rivers Community Condemns Attack On Police Along Ogoni-Andoni Road
The people of Asarama community in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have condemned the recent attack on security Agencies by unknown gunmen at police check point at Inyonorong axis of Ogoni – Andoni Unity road of the state.
They also described the act as barbaric and criminal, noting that the action was detrimental to the peace-loving people of the area.
This was contained in a communiqué signed by the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Asarama Clan, Elder Mark Animisa and the youth Leader, Mr Maxwell Theophilus among others at Asarama Town, yesterday.
According to the communique, the people of Asarama are law abiding people who cannot carry out such criminal act against security agencies posted to the area to protect lives and property of the people living in the area.
The community used the opportunity to appeal to the government and the State Command of the Nigeria Police to deploy SARS and Army to the area, especially Asarama community and its environs for adequate security of lives and property
The communiqué further appealed to the state government and the police command to station permanent Mobile police station to check criminal activities in the area, saying that as a busy road linking so many local government areas and companies operating at the coastal areas of Andoni and Opobo, criminal elements see it as advantage to perpetrates evil as to paint the gate way communities around the area in bad light.
The communiqué also called on Rivers State Government to extend its new Operation Sting to secure both the waterways and the communities in the area.
The people promised to support the security agencies in the protection of lives and property of the people in the area.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
