Unknown Assailants Rape Two Teenagers To Death In Rivers
Palpable fear has enveloped in Ubie clan of Ekpeye following the brutal killing of two girls from Ihuakpa community in Ahoada West Local Government Area by unknown assailants.
The decomposed corpses of Miss Chikpebi Samuel 15, and Miss Uwoh Augustine 12, were found in the bush near their village last Tuesday after they have been declared missing from home a week earlier.
Source who preferred anonymity confided in our correspondent that a man described as a palm fruit-cutter discovered the corpses while scouting the bush for ripe palm fruits.
The palm fruit-cutter, having dropped the hint with the community, immediately triggered a random census of their girls until they realized that the duo of Chikpebi and Uwoh, who left their homes a week ago have been strangulated and dumped in the bush by unknown killers.
The killers covered their mouth with pieces of their dress and placed their handbags by their side, the source added.
Community sources also hinted that some female farmers, including other young men who used to fetch fire wood in that bush ran back home on sighting the corpses for fear of falling prey; attributing the crime to the cultists in the area.
Impeccable sources maintained that it was difficult to know whether any part of their body was mutilated, but they strongly believe that the deceased teens had been violently raped before snuffing life out of them.
The burial of the deceased girls raised controversy as the people of Ihuakpa community hesitated to accept responsibility; insisting that the teens were not their biological daughters.
Although the body of Chikpebi has now been buried by her [Anwunugbokor] people after days of bickering, that of Uwoh continues to decay since her blood relations have yet to perform the rites.
However, investigation revealed that Chikpebi and Uwoh were not natives of Ihuakpa community; their mothers came with them to the community from earlier broken marriages.
While Mrs. Gladys Samuel had Chikpebi in Anwunugbokor community, before her second marriage to late Samuel Abadi, Uwoh whose mother hailed from Ubarama Community, was born to another man in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
When contacted for comments, the Police at Ubeta, referred our correspondent to Police Public Relations Officer in Port Harcourt.
