Gov Lauds FG On Power Dev
Governor Tanko Al-Makura of
Nasarawa State has commended the Federal Government for embarking on the development of necessary power infrastructure to boost economic activities in the state.
Al-Makura made the commendation when he spoke with State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, recently.
He said that the President Buhari-led administration had put in place a robust power infrastructure in the state to support the state government’s industrial revolution plan.
He particularly noted with delight that the Federal Government had completed arrangements for the installation of a 330 KV line that would supply the entire Nasarawa state with frequent power supply.
He, therefore, expressed optimism that such project when completed would boost economic and business activities in the state and subsequently uplift the quality of life the people.
“I came to thank the president on the effort the Federal Government is making toward industrializing Nassarawa State through provision of robust power infrastructure in the state.
“Only two weeks ago, a team was sent to ensure continuation of the process of injecting a substation which is likely to provide the 330 KV line substation that will be the foundation for effective power supply in the state.
“ I have come to show my appreciation on behalf of the people of the State to Mr President,’’ he said.
The governor said that his government had entered into collaboration with Federal Government to provide critical infrastructure such as power and mass housing, which he said, were lacking in his state.
According to him, already 13,000 hectares has been earmarked for a planned area which will take care of both mass housing and industrial park.
Al-Makura also stated that the mass housing project when completed, would depopulate the FCT.
“Having that very close to the Federal Capital is something that will add lot value to the lives of the people living within the Federal Capital and Nasarawa state as well.
“Like I said earlier, the area is about 13,000 hectares this will help relieve the Federal Capital Territory with the congestion and gridlock with regard to population explosion.
“This will substantially reduce the congestion and explosion of population within the FCT.’’

BVN Enrolments Rise 6% To 67.8m In 2025 — NIBSS
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has said that Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrolments rose by 6.8 per cent year-on-year to 67.8 million as at December 2025, up from 63.5 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
In a statement published on its website, NIBSS attributed the growth to stronger policy enforcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the expansion of diaspora enrolment initiatives.
NIBSS noted that the expansion reinforces the BVN system’s central role in Nigeria’s financial inclusion drive and digital identity framework.
Another major driver, the statement said, was the rollout of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative, which allows Nigerians in the diaspora to obtain a BVN remotely without physical presence in the country.
A five-year analysis by NIBSS showed consistent growth in BVN enrolments, rising from 51.9 million in 2021 to 56.0 million in 2022, 60.1 million in 2023, 63.5 million in 2024 and 67.8 million by December 2025. The steady increase reflects stronger compliance with biometric identity requirements and improved coverage of the national banking identity system.
However, NIBSS noted that BVN enrolments still lag the total number of active bank accounts, which exceeded 320 million as of March 2025.
The gap, it explained, is largely due to multiple bank accounts linked to single BVNs, as well as customers yet to complete enrolment, despite the progress recorded.
