Monarch Wants Anti-Cultism War In Etche
The Onye Ishi of
Ulakwo Umuselem Clan in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Ken Nwala, has called on the state government to extend the demolition of cultists and criminals hideouts to the area.
The Royal Father while commending the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for the renewed fight against cultists in the state, particularly urged him to extend such gestures to Obibi community and its environs which according to him, have been ravaged by cult related attacks for more than four years.
The Eze Nwala made the call in an exclusive interview with The Tide in his office in Port Harcourt, and said the move would afford the people of the eight villages in Obibi who have abandoned the place to return to their homes.
According to him, the call was necessitated because Etche Local Government Area was close to Port Harcourt and as such the cultists whose houses were demolished might decide to invade the polarised local government area for safety and hideout.
“Let the governor ensure that he extends the war to other notorious local government areas where cultists hhold sway like Obibi and other communities across the state”.
The Etche monarch averred that the Governor Wike’s determination to check cultism was an indication that he meant well for the state and urged him to do more so as to encourage more investors to invest in the state.
The paramount ruler used the opportunity to call on the governor to empower the traditional rulers to enable them work effectively with security agencies to check the crime and added that the royal fathers were custodians of various communities and “they live with these boys”.
