Rivers FRSC Records 80 Deaths In Eight Months
A total of 80 persons
died in road accident in Rivers State between January to August, 2015.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rivers State Command, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi dropped this hint in an interview with our correspondent in his office in Port Harcourt on Friday.
Kumapayi said 73 road accidents were recorded within the period, and advised motorists not to drive beyond the stipulated speed unit of their vehicles especially during this ember month.
He however said the command has put every necessary measure in place to reduce the number of road accidents in the state within this last quarter of the year and further appealed to all stakeholders to comply with all the directives of the Command for safety of their lives and their passengers.
Meanwhile, the Acting General Manager of Rivers Transport Company (RTC), Mr. Peter Borlo has enjoined drivers to regard safety as their watchword by driving carefully in these ember months.
Borlo disclosed that the high rate of accidents in the state was as a result of impatience on the part of the drivers, and cautioned them to take extra care in their driving by obeying all road rules and regulations in order to reduce carnage on the roads.
