The Rivers State Joint Public Negotiating Council Chairman, Comrade Emecheta Chuku, has commended the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for approving the 2014 Christmas bonus for civil servants and payment of December workers’ salaries.
The Chairman who made the commendation, yesterday during a chat with newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt, said the attention given to labour matters in the state by Governor Amaechi is worthy of emulation by other states.
According to him, “since the inception of Governor Amaechi’s administration, salaries of workers had been promptly paid, workers promotion interviews released and pensioners’ back log of arrears owed before his administration also paid up”.
He appealed to the Governor to consider the plight of the pensioners and the input made while in service as it affects the payment of their regular monthly pension.
The Chairman also urged civil servants to rally round and give the government unflinching support to enable it succeed in the days ahead.
