ANCLA Urges Synergy Among Freight Forwarders

geria Licensed Customs Agents (ANCLA) has tasked freight forwarders in Nigeria to ensure that they work in line with the principles of networking among themselves in order to promote best and effective practices in the business.
The National President ANCLA, Olayiwola Shittu, gave the advice on Friday at ANCLA House Onne, while speaking with The Tide.
Shittu said customs agents need to take advantage of the business opportunities embedded in break-bulk conferences across the world to strive in the business of feight forwarding and clearing stressing that the new trends of business opportunity demand a lot of networking for growth and sustainability.
He said the essence of the break-bulk conference is to ensure that the business of freight forwarders go beyond the immediate microcosm level of their operations, stressing that the idea of break-bulk was to assist expand the business horizon of freight forwarders to be conversant with what is obtainable other climes.
The ANCLA boss said networking is now modern in the business of clearing and forwarding since it involved absorbing international best practices.
He said ANCLA has always been in the fore-front of pushing for an enabling business environment which is the reason for appreciating what break-bulk conference is doing to educate people on business opportunities in clearing and forwarding .
Shittu explaind that break-bulk as part of the activities of freight forwarders was organised to run business conferences and exhibitions as a process of bringing projects to the knowledge of business owners across the world and seek the needed resources to backup the business.
The ANCLA National President also commended members of the association operating at Onne port and urged them to conduct their business within the framework of the rules and regulations stipulated by the authorities.
He enjoined the association members to conduct their forthcoming election peacefully.

Importers, market traders, and supermarket operators have therefore, been directed to immediately cease all dealings in these items and to notify their supply chain partners to halt transactions involving prohibited products.
The agency emphasized that failure to comply will attract strict enforcement measures, including seizure and destruction of goods, suspension or revocation of operational licences, and prosecution under relevant laws.
The statement said “The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised an alarm over the growing incidence of smuggling, sale, and distribution of regulated food products such as pasta, noodles, sugar, and tomato paste currently found in markets across the country.
“These products are expressly listed on the Federal Government’s Customs Prohibition List and are not permitted for importation”.
NAFDAC also called on other government bodies, including the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS) Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigeria Shippers Council, and the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), to collaborate in enforcing the ban on these unsafe products.
