VC Attributes Academic Excellence To ICT Dev
The attainment of aca
demic excellence in the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) Nkpolu, has been attributed to the high standard of its Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Barineme Fakae, said this recently when the Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Education, led by its chairman, Hon Augustine Ngo, visited the institution.
He said the school has gone far ahead its counterparts due to the kind of ICT system available in the area.
Fakae, told the lawmakers that his institution was the first to issue certificates during convocation, saying it was courtesy of the e-system.
According to him, the system has rectified pitfalls of the old method, especially with regard to record keeping.
He was of the view that such feat would not have been achieved if the state Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi had not paved the way.
The RSUST VC also hinted that the school was working round the clock to ensure that it maintains its present position in the ICT world.
The Tide gathered that the Rivers State owned higher institution, was the first state owned university to fully embark on the e-learning system in the federation.
Responding, the Hon Ngo-led House committee, said it was on the visit to ascertain the level of academic growth in the institution.
The chairman specifically called for sustainable maintenance culture, as to uphold the current development in the university.
