ISPON Tasked On Unified, Strong Software Industry
The institute of
software practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) has been tasked to facilitate a unified and strong software industry that could lend credence to its advocacy.
The Manager, ISPON, Mr Kabelo Makwane, said this at the weekend during a public function in Abuja.
He expressed happiness over the moves in the industry, adding that all partnership should be on long term basis in order to accommodate some of the issues raised in the industry.
Makwane, noted that if the key issues raised by players in the industry are given premium attention, all the setbacks associated with the industry would be a thing of the past.
Also speaking, the ISPON’s President, Mr Pius Okigbo Jnr, revealed that his organization has decided to build indigenous capacity by bolstering software local content.
He hinted that the initiative would also protect and make case for intellectual property rights as regards to software development.
Okigbo stressed that the process would be achieved through its different channels and events, adding that Microsoft Nigeria must play a leading role in the actualisation of the goals.
In his view, the immediate past president of ISPON, Mr Chris Uwaje, reasoned that the company should assent its role in the development of the country’s software ecosystem.
He maintained that the nation has teeming numbers of young people who are capable of up turning the software market in the nearest future, should the opportunity be given them.
The Microsoft Corporation has recently, evaluated Microsoft Nigeria to a stand alone subsidiary in recognition of the of the maternity of the market and the great opportunities offered by the country.
