CDC Chairman Harps On Fleeing Farmers Return
The Chairman,
Aminigboko Community Development Committee, (CDC) Emughan, in the Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr Chukwudi Georgewill has called on fleeing farmers from the area to return home.
Georgewill who made the appeal in Abua recently while speaking to newsmen, said the absence of the people which was occasioned by a cult related crises more than one year ago has created a bad impression on the community.
According to him, the presence of a combined form of security personnel in the community has reassured the return of relative peace, adding that the friendly posture of the security personnel was recommendable.
While calling on the fleeing farmers to return and resettle to enable them reactivate their farms, he urged the political class in the LGA to fight against the repeat of the negative occurrence of the past.
It would be recalled that unidentified gunmen shot and killed several people including children last December which led to the people deserting their community.
The scenario created room for hoodlums suspected to be cultists and the brains behind the act to plunder the farms left behind by their owners.
It is also on record that an unprecedented number of Aminigboko people mostly farmers, artisans, businessmen and non-indigenous citizens are now in exile in far and near places.
Some of them who have been speaking to our correspondent were yet to give a time frame for returning.
They reiterated that only a change in the political structure in the LGA that would propelled their return, as the alleged crisis was politically motivated.
