SUBEB To Train 25,000 Teachers On ICT In Bauchi
The State Universal Basic
Education Board (SUBEB), Bauchi, said it would train 25,000 teachers on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to boost e-learning in basic schools.
The Executive Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Abdullahi Dabo, who spoke on the initiative in an interview our correspondent in Bauchi.
Dabo said that the training would encourage computer literacy among pupils in public schools last Tuesday.
According to him, the exercise will also help the state government to attain its goal of having computer-literate pupils in public schools, in a bid to build a computer-literate society.
“For the state to have computer-literate students, we need computer-literate teachers,” he said.
Dabo said there were few schools with e-learning centres in the state and measures were being taken to train teachers to man them.
“That is why we decided to train our teachers on information technology to be able to equip our pupils with computer skills,” he said.
The chairman said the training would be conducted in collaboration with the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT).
He said that steps were being taken to provide computers that were needed for the success of the project.
