Institute Urges Private Investors On Tourism
The Director General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) Mr Munzali Dantata, has urged private investors not to relent in developing tourism in Nigeria.
Dantata told newsmen in Lagos that the role of the private sector in investing in the Nigerian tourism industry was enormous.
He described tourism as a fast growing industry all over the world and with the highest number of employees.
“Tourism alone is capable of employing over a hundred million persons across various sectors.
“The role of the private sector in attaining national goals should be given due consideration because the role of the public sector is regulatory,’’ Dantata said.
The Director – General said that tourism industry had been faced with serious operational problems relating mostly to regulatory issues.
He said that the industry as one of the oldest in the country, though still young, had not enjoyed fast growth and advancement in spite of the enormous potentials it possessed.
Dantata however stressed that the Federal Government was committed to the development of the industry.
He called on the private sector to invest in the industry as efforts aimed at solving the problems were underway.
The Director – General said that NIHOTOUR would assist the nation attain its many set goals, especially those of tourism development.
Dantata said that the Federal Government was committed to the development and promotion of private and public tourism institutions in the country for international recognition.
