EMS Boss Raises Hope For Dispatch Riders
The General Manager, Express Mail Service (EMS) NIPOST, Mr. Osadolor Eboigbodin, has assured dispatch riders in Lagos State of the Postmaster-General’s concern over their endurance and resilience in the delivery of courier items.
He said this in an address dispatched to the post’s motor cycle riders recently, during his tour of the EMS units in the Lagos zone.
Osadolor, said that the issue became necessary after considering the plights of the riders in the area due to the ban of “okada” operations.
The Tide gathered that deliveries was done by foot at Victoria Island, were dispatch personnel’s trekked long distance to deliver their products.
The spokesman of the dispatch riders, Mr Samson Akpa, requested for a 200 cubic capacity (200cc) motor cycles to be provided for them to enable them function effectively.
He said that they may down tools if urgent steps are not made to address their plight.
Akpa, while appreciating the NIPOST boss’ concern, regretted that dispatch men were passing through such difficult situation even in this computer era.
Earlier, the EMS General Manager had cautioned them against stealing and other acts capable of dragging the name of the Post in the mud, but should look out for those things that can add colour to the services of the organization.
At the Lagos Island Territory, he also lauded the EMS operators over what he called smooth operation.
Meanwhile, there are indications that the post- master-General of the Federation, has acted in line with the operators request, due to the calm nature of the dispatehmen in Lagos State, Recently.
