30 Agencies Remit N312.65bn To Federation Account
No fewer than 30 govern
ment agencies remitted N312.65 billion into the Consolidated Revenue Fund as operating surplus in six years, a report by Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), has revealed.
The report, which was obtained in Abuja, on Thursday, showed that the remittances were made by the agencies between 2007 and 2012.
In the report, which is its latest edition of “Annual Report and Audited Accounts”, FRC said Central Bank of Nigeria, National Deposit Insurance Corporation and Nigeria Communication Commission, remitted N274. 45 billion.
The report stated that the three agencies contributed 87.78 per cent of the total remittance by the 30 organisations.
It, however, noted that corporations like NNPC, NIMASA, BPE, FIRS, NCS and NPA, which were expected to contribute huge operating surpluses, failed.
The report indicated that the highest remittance of N95.5 billion into the fund was recorded in 2012 and was followed by N73.19 billion in 2011.
Remittance by the agencies in the other years, according to the report, are N43.43 billion in 2010, N40.56 billion in 2009, N23.22 billion in 2008 and N37.15 billion in 2007.
The report showed that only nine out of the 30 agencies contributed the surpluses remitted in 2012.

Kenyan Runners Dominate Berlin Marathons
Kenya made it a clean sweep at the Berlin Marathon with Sabastian Sawe winning the men’s race and Rosemary Wanjiru triumphing in the women’s.
Sawe finished in two hours, two minutes and 16 seconds to make it three wins in his first three marathons.
The 30-year-old, who was victorious at this year’s London Marathon, set a sizzling pace as he left the field behind and ran much of the race surrounded only by his pacesetters.
Japan’s Akasaki Akira came second after a powerful latter half of the race, finishing almost four minutes behind Sawe, while Ethiopia’s Chimdessa Debele followed in third.
“I did my best and I am happy for this performance,” said Sawe.
“I am so happy for this year. I felt well but you cannot change the weather. Next year will be better.”
Sawe had Kelvin Kiptum’s 2023 world record of 2:00:35 in his sights when he reached halfway in 1:00:12, but faded towards the end.
In the women’s race, Wanjiru sped away from the lead pack after 25 kilometers before finishing in 2:21:05.
Ethiopia’s Dera Dida followed three seconds behind Wanjiru, with Azmera Gebru, also of Ethiopia, coming third in 2:21:29.
Wanjiru’s time was 12 minutes slower than compatriot Ruth Chepng’etich’s world record of 2:09:56, which she set in Chicago in 2024.
