NUT Directs Teachers To Open Bank Accounts
The Nigerian Union of
Teachers, Rivers State Council has directed the 13,000 newly recruited teachers to open bank accounts with any of the banks operating in the state for their monthly salary payment.
The union’s chairman Comrade Godfrey Nwogu gave the advice in Port Harcourt while speaking with The Tide.
Nwogu said such directive became imperative to facilitate their monthly salary payment without delay by the state government.
He said the bank account will ensure transparency in financial transaction and salary payment of the teachers.
The union boss also commended the state government over the teachers’ recruitment, stressing that public schools in the state now have well qualified teachers in various disciplines.
He enjoined the teachers to discharge their responsibilities of imparting knowledge creditably without absenting themselves from their respective schools.
Nwogu said the union will create a monitoring team to visit the various schools with a view to checking the conduct of the teachers.
