Delta Embarks On 851 Projects At N225bn
The Delta Commissioner for Works, Mr Funkekeme Solomon, said the government had embarked on 851 projects at N225 billion across the state to improve socio-economic life of the people.
Solomon who announced this in Asaba at the inauguration of some of the projects to mark the 2013 Democracy Day, said that nine roads covering 11 kilometres had been completed at N3.7 billion.
He said the state government placed emphasis on road infrastructure, noting that the completion and inauguration of the projects underscored the attention and zeal with which the physical infrastructure development aspect of the current administration is pursued.
He commended the contractors whose projects were completed and advised them to extend the same commitment to others they were handling in the state and appealed to the people of the state to support the vision of the government.
The commissioner said government was determined to improve the living standard of the people through rapid development and transformation of every part of the state.
Our correspondent reports that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Tuesday inaugurated three of the nine completed projects.
They include the expansion of the Government House road, rehabilitation of old Okpanam road from Benin-Asaba Expressway and the construction of the Asagba Secondary School, Asaba.
Uduaghan said the other projects would be inaugurated at subsequent dates.
