LG Boss Distributes Fertilisers To Farmers
The Chairman of Calabar South Local Government, Mr Ekeng Henshaw, has distributed over 500 bags of fertilisers at no cost to 150 farmers.
Henshaw distributed the commodity at the farming site along New Airport Road, Anantigha, Calabar. He said that the gesture was part of the agricultural development programme of the council.
The beneficiaries of the fertilisers included Water leaf Farmers Association, New Airport Road, Nka-Namse-nkamada Women Association, Abitu Avenue and Women Farmers Association, Ward 3.
Henshaw said that the State Government approved the purchase and distribution of fertilisers to farmers in order to achieve improved yields in their various farms.
“The distribution of fertilisers to over 150 farmers is in appreciation of the state government of what they have done so as to achieve improved yields in their various farms.’’
The Chairman said the aggregate cultivation of their water leaf farms, okro, vegetables leafs among others, had helped in feeding the residents of the area.
“It is expedient for any reasonable government to assist and encourage to achieve better yields.’’
Henshaw said the government had concluded arrangement to launch an agricultural enrolment scheme to bring numerous benefits to farmers in the state
