Akinyemi Becomes DG Of Communications Bureau
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti has appointed Mr Kayode
Akinyemi as the Director General of the newly-created Bureau of Strategic
Communications.
This was contained in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on
Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode.
The Bureau, according to the release, was created to
conceptualise and coordinate the communication initiatives of government and
promote its eight-point agenda.
Akinyemi, whose appointment takes immediate effect, is a
journalist, broadcaster and Advertising/Public Relations Practitioner with
experience in marketing communications.
He was until his appointment the official representative of
the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in Nigeria.
Akinyemi had also served as Head of Corporate Communications
at Skye Bank Plc where he was in charge of the bank’s internal and external
communications.
He was born on March 1, 1966, in Afao- Ekiti,
Ifelodun/Irepodun Local Government Area of Ekiti.
Akinyemi read Mass Communication and started his career as a
Reporter with Radio Nigeria in 1988 before he ventured into Public Relations
and Advertising in 1989.
