GSM: NATCOMS Decries Poor Services
The President, National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers (NATCOMS), Chief Deolu Ogunbanjo, has decried the persistent poor services of GSM operators in spite of fines imposed on them by the NCC.
Ogunbanjo told newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos that the fines imposed on them should have forced them to improve on their services.
He expressed regret that the poor quality of services of the GSM operators had continued in spite of the N1.17 billion fines imposed on them.
He said that the poor services had prevented many subscribers from enjoying value for their money on calls and data services.
According to him, inconsistent billings, poor call completion rates and failure to load airtime were some of the challenges being faced by subscribers.
The NATCOMS president said that the operators were introducing new products and selling new SIM cards daily without expanding their facilities.
He urged the operators to expand their facilities to meet the growing numbers of subscribers.
Ogunbanjo said that the current situation whereby operators continuously debited subscribers in the name of promo against subscribers’ interest was worrisome.
“Subscribers should be watchful and make appropriate investigation before accepting any promo offer from the operators.
“It is worrisome that the operators lack the capacity to cope with the increasing traffic generated by subscribers,’’
Ogunbanjo urged the regulator to create conducive environment for the operators and provide security of their facilities.
