NVBF Promises To Organise Annual Beach Volleyball
Beach volleyball will
henceforth feature regularly in the federation’s programme of activities, President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Habu Gumel, has promised.
He made the promise in Abuja while speaking on the maiden edition of the Beach Volleyball Open sponsored by Samsung Electronics West Africa.
Gumel said the competition tagged “Samsung Electronics Beach Volleyball Tour’’ was not only an eye-opener but also a new dawn in the federation.
“Part of the federation’s aspiration is to make beach volleyball become competitive and with a high level of spectatorship like other sports.
“In view of this, the competition is a pilot project which will be established in our annual programme of events.
“I hope all the participants will enjoy this memorable moment in the history of beach volleyball,’’ he said.
The NVBF President said Samsung’s contribution towards the promotion of beach volleyball in Nigeria was timely.
“NVBF, in partnership with Samsung Electronics West Africa, has been able to establish a positive relationship in our efforts to promote the game in the country.
“This is a timely intervention and it is a welcome development for the promotion of beach volleyball in Nigeria,’’ he said.
Gumel assured the sponsors of transparency and accountability as partners.
“I thank the management and staff of Samsung Electronics West Africa for fulfilling the company’s mandate in terms of corporate social responsibility,” he said.
Gumel urged the media also to create awareness on the socio-economic importance of the sport.
