RSG Committed To Building Football College -Igwe
The Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon Fred Igwe has stated the state government’s readiness to build a football College of Excellence in Etche, Rivers State.
The Commissioner stated this yesterday, shortly after inspecting the college site located at Obara-community in Etche Local Government Area of the State.
He said, the football college remains one of the projects the Governor Chibuike Amaechi has at heart.
“Our governor is a sports lover and he has interest in sport development, that is why he spent so much money to host the 17th National Sports Festival. He wants to bring back Rivers State as a sport city, as it used to be”, Igwe said.
Igwe explained that the purpose of the football college is to produce players that would feed the clubsides and represent the country, noting that the plan is to ensure that youths in the country particularly, Rivers State excel in football.
The commissioner revealed that the delay in the take off of the project was as a result of due process.
He pledged that the demands of the community would be met.
