Enyimba Vows To Win Federation Cup
Chairman, Enyimba FC of Aba, Anyansi Agwu, has said that the team are determined to win the Federation Cup when they meet rivals, Heartland FC of Owerri, in Sunday’s final in Lagos.
Kaduna United won last year’s edition of the competition.
The winner will represent Nigeria in the 2012 Orange CAF Confederation Cup.
Enyimba have won the annual competition twice, the recent triumph in 2009 while Heartland, then known as Iwuanyanwu Nationale, had a taste of the trophy in 1988.
Agwu said that he would not predict the result of the final but that Enyimba would retain the trophy when they meet at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
“It will be a beautiful game; we will never be in a verbal war with our brothers. For the fact that they got to the final gladdens my heart, both of us have qualified for the final.
“What happens, well, what God has destined will work for us,’’ he said.
He said that Enyimba had had stability so far, which had helped the team’s performance both in the continental and local competitions.
“We have made a lot of appreciable success, the management, players and officials are all committed.
“We have a governor who is supportive, who has provided all our requests.
“We will win the Federation Cup to show appreciation and Heartland will not stop us,’’ he said.
