Ghana Earmarks $122m For Airport Rehabilitation
Ghanaian government has earmarked $122 million for the rehabilitation of its domestic airports to enhance the operations of airlines.
The Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, Ms Doreen Owusu Fianko will also be speaking on government’s plan to spend $50.9 million for the third phase of the Kotoka International Airport rehabilitation project, as well as business opportunities for suppliers for Ghana’s domestic airports, Takoradi, Kumasi and Sunyani.
These investments are predicated on the tremendous air traffic growth projections for Ghana which indicate a rise in aircraft movements from 15,225 in 2009 to 27,882 in 2004.
Business opportunities to develop Ghanaian and Vietnamese airport infrastructure will be discussed at the Emerging Markets Airport Suppliers Conference (EMASC 2011) scheduled for 11th and 12th December, 2011, at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai (UAE).
The conference will also focus on major airport projects under construction and expansion in the Emerging markets of the middle East, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe and will produce updates on new solutions and technologies available in the market for efficiency, safety, speed and comfort in airports.
The director of Air Transport Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, Vo Huy Coung will discuss the country’s huge programme for airport expansion and improvement that will see ten international airports operating in the country by 2020.
