Sole Administrator Cautions Intending Pilgrims
The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State pilgrims Board, Monsignor John Wangbu says the board remains committed to the transparent execution of the laudable ideals for the establishment of the board.
To this end, he said all hands must be on deck to ensure strict compliance of all laid down rules by the board to ensure the good reputation of the government and people of Rivers State in the Holy land.
Monsignor Wangbu, made this known while outlining the guidelines for the batching of pilgrims for this year’s pilgrimage in Port Harcourt.
According to him, no intending pilgrim with threatening medical history would be allowed to travel to avoid a bad image for the State already known for its excellent reputation in the Holy land.
Monsignor Wangbu a former Rector of the Sacred Heart Seminary, Port Harcourt and a former Vice Rector of St. Joseph’s seminary Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom, also said that an effective computerised system has been introduced to check fraudsters.
He said the era is over for those who manipulated the system and travelled yearly to the holy land thereby wasting the resources and good gesture of the Rivers State Government aimed at the spiritual rejuvenation for its people.
Monsignor Wangbu spoke of the rationale of the state government as a leading state in Pilgrimage and appealed to beneficiaries to justify the confidence resposed in them.
This, he said, they can do by being patriotic during and after pilgrimage through showing love, praying fervently for peaceful co-existence in Rivers State and the country at large.
Meanwhile, intending pilgrims have commended the Rivers State Government for its huge investment towards better Christian life for the people of various backgrounds irrespective of religious denomination.
They commended Monsignor John Wangbu who has served in the catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt in various capacities including that of Bishop’s secretary for a job well down.
