NFF, FA Officials Abandon Team Early
A number of state FA officials invited to South Africa by the Nigeria Football Federation NFF have been returning to Nigeria after the Super Eagles second game against Greece.
All the tickets provided by the NFF for the officials have return dates not earlier than today, a day after Nigeria’s final group game, but some of the state FA bosses were not prepared to wait that long and rescheduled their tickets, some at exorbitant rates of over $400 in some cases, excluding air fares of around $150 to Johannesburg.
Departures started last Saturday, while others followed on Sunday.
About a third of the contingent were already back home in Nigeria by the time Eagles played South Korea yesterday and more are expected to follow, as the Road Lodge hotel, a beehive of Nigerian activities a few days earlier, began to thin out over the weekend.
