Suspended Edo Council Chairman Yet To Resume
Two days after the Edo State House of Assembly nullified the suspension of Oredo Council Boss, Mr Nosa Ehiman, he is yet to resume office.
Close aides to the suspended council boss told newsmen that Ehiman was waiting for the resolution of the house before taking the next line of action.
Mr Ehiman was suspended from office by Governor Adams Oshiomhole over allegations of misappropriation and financial recklessness with council funds and non-clearing of refuse from the streets and markets within the locality.
The vice chairman, Hon Omrogieva Gbajumo, was sworn-in as the acting chairman by Oshiomhole and a Commission of Inquiry was subsequently set up to probe the allegations levelled against the suspended chairman.
Armed mobile policemen were seen at the council secretariat while Gbajumo was seen performing his duties. He said he could only be removed from office by the governor.
Gbajumo denied sponsoring the protest that greeted the voiding of the suspension by the lawmakers.
Meanwhile, Governor Adams Oshiomhole said yesterday that he consulted the necessary authorities before suspending Ehiman.
Oshiomhole said any aggrieved persons should seek redress in the court.
