Apostolic Church Pastor Dies In Sleep
The Vice President of The Apostolic Church, Nigeria, Pastor S.S. Jemigbon, has died in his sleep in his Lagos residence, throwing the church’s adherents nationwide into shock and confusion. He was found dead in his bed.
Jemigbon, who doubled as Lagos, Western and Northern Area (LAWNA) chairman was said to have retired to his room after his evening meal and after praying with his family members.
A staff of the church, who pleaded anonymity said it was a thing of shock when Baba (as the LAWNA Chairman was fondly called) did not wake up early as usual. When he was checked in his room, he was found in his bed dead.
The clergyman, who presided over a conference of ministers of the church which ended recently, had not shown any sign of ill-health. He had participated actively throughout the conference.
Jemigbon’s humility and commitment to the things of the Lord brought him to the enviable office of LAWNA Chairman and Vice President of the church, members said.
He was regarded as a tested and trusted counselor who believed in the advancement of the gospel, which was responsible for his influential role in the opening of branches of The Apostolic Church in Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Texas (USA) and other parts of the world.
Pastor Babatunde Ajayi, one of the pastors in Agege Area branch said the departure of Baba is a great setback to the church which may hamper the progress of work in the building of the National Temple of The Apostolic Church which witnessed tremendous progress during his tenure.
The cause of Jemigbon’s death had not been ascertained as at the time of this report as members were still discussing the incident in hushed tones.
