Plateau Buries Community Leader, Two Others Killed By Suspected Herdsmen
Three people who were killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen were yesterday buried in Bassa Council Area of Plateau State.
The victims, including a forty-year-old community leader, Musa Yevuh were killed in Hukke village of the council area by the gunmen who ambushed them around 8:30 a.m. while they were cutting firewood in their farm last Monday.
Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Irigwe Chiefdom, Pastor Joshua Bari, who spoke during the burial condemned the incessant attacks and killings of innocent citizens in the council area and other parts of the State by armed men.
Bari said, “This is quite disheartening and alarming because these killings and attacks are a great point of concern.
“The CAN Irigwe Chiefdom vehemently condemns this horrible, horrific and unpleasant incidents. The Holy Bible condemns it, the law of the country condemns it, in fact, nobody has the right to kill another person because we have been created in God’s image and likeness. We sincerely sympathize and commiserate with the deceased families at these difficult moments that the good Lord will comfort and sustain them. (Amen)
“We, therefore, plead and urge the Government of the day to come to our rescue to put a stop to these killings, knowing fully that the sole duty of the state is to protect lives and properties. When this is not done it shows that the state has failed.
“As CAN Irigwe Chiefdom we promise to preach, promote, maintain peace and to be law-abiding citizens.
“Furthermore, we call on Christian organizations, individual Christians, NGOs and the Government to support the deceased families prayerfully, financially and otherwise to alleviate their sufferings.
