Opobo Community Inducts New Elders
A total of nine new persons were recently inducted into the Elders’ Council of Chief Annie Stewart House, Opobo Town in efforts to enlarge the executive from eleven to twenty members for greater productivity.
At the induction ceremony, Head of the House, Alabo Samuel Daniel Stewart (Nduisi V), urged the inductees to see their selection and induction as an opportunity to contribute maximally towards the growth of the house and not a means to amass wealth, create problems and destroy legacies bequeathed to the people.
He advised the Seniapu to bear in mind that, “you are not the best of the Seniapu of the house, but were selected due to personal contribution in one way or the other to keep the house moving forward”.
Alabo Stewart admonished them to sincerely represent the house in all endeavours, warning that his administraton will not hesitate to remove any of them found wanting in the discharge of his service to the house.
Alabo Stewart who cautioned against gang up, noted that his administration will reward any of them, who engaged in defending the house effectively in all ramifications.
The ruler wished them well in the assignment, but enjoined the elders to keep youthful habits at bay as there were punishments for offenders.
Also speaking at the occasion, a renowned industrialist and elder of the house, Ama-Opu-Senibo Ezekiel Daniel Stewart, warned the inductees to endeavour to keep to the provisions of the oath of office and allegiance.
He stressed that keeping the secret of the house would take the house to the next level, describing the assignment as enormous.
Ama-Opu-Senibo Stewart cautioned members to desist from acts capable of tarnishing the image of the house in particular, Opobo Kingdom and Rivers State in general.
Those inducted include, Philip Leo Stewart, Baralabomie Oko Stewart, Chinenye Tuokiri Stewart, Jerry Ezekiel Stewart and Gogo Owugbosia Stewart.
