Group Advises Ayade On Threat Letters
Clans Club International, which says it is an organization of like-minded individuals, has charged the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade not to succumb to threat by any individual or group that they would terminate the lives of top Government functionaries in the state.
A communique signed by the Club chapter President, Dr. Fred Obeten and made available to newsmen at the 32nd Anniversary of the group in Calabar said it was intimidation and blackmail for any individual or group of persons to threaten the lives of any person or individuals.
The group called on the governor not to take this as a joke but to deploy security agencies to dig to a logical level, any group threatening the lives of individuals in security.
“We called on government not to succumb to cheap black mail but to do all in its powers to bring the promoters of such terrorist activities to book speedily. “We totally condemn cultism and the resort to violence to achieve political and security goals”.
The Clans club charged the “the faceless group” which issued the threat statement to allow peace reign in Cross River warning that there is no one that has monopoly over violence. It would be recalled that security agents had in August 2018 arrested some persons in the state alleged to have been in posession arms a day to the conduct of the by-elections by the government to filled in a candidate to represent Obudu state constituency at the Cross River State Assembly.
